The Parliamentarian’s Resource Center was established to provide information and support services to Senators and Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) to assist them in performing their legislative duties. The Resource Center services are provided free of charge or at a minimal cost. The Resource Center staff is striving to provide those services which are most needed by the honorable members to compliment the other informational services of the parliament. The Resource Center staff welcomes feedback on what additional services might be required to facilitate the work of the honorable members.
Hours of Service
Monday to SUNday: 9:00 am – Midnight 12:00
The services and facilities currently available at the Resource Center are for MNAs and Senators ONLY, and include: Internet Access Terminals: Computer terminals provide free internet access to facilitate access to extensive internet resources and access to e-mail. Assisted Internet Searching: Honorable members may choose to use the computer resources themselves or they can draw upon the Resource Center Staff for assisted internet searching or other computer applications.
Quick Reference: Resource Center staff may assist the honorable Senators and MNAs with quick reference questions drawing upon the resources of the Resource Center collection and the internet.
Electronic Resources: The Resource Center Staff regularly updates customized folders of selected internet sites on topics of current interest. These resources provide an opportunity to quickly search for information on topics of frequent interest, such as: Communication, Economics, Environment, Human Rights, International Relations, Information Technology, Law, Legislation, Local Government, Religion, World Politics, World History.
Document Delivery: Requested information or documents may be delivered to honorable members either in printed form or electronically (By e-mail, fax, on diskette, etc.)
The RC Collection: The Resource Center has a small general collection of books. The staff is also collected publications of NGO's, INGO’s and other institutions which the honorable members might find of interest.
Newspapers: Several national daily newspapers are available in the Resource Center. In English: The News; Dawn; The Nation; and in Urdu: Nawa-e-Waqat; Jang. Back issues of newspapers are retained for one month for reference purposes.
Magazines and Journals: The Resource Center subscribes to a limited number of current event magazines, such as Time, Newsweek, The Economist, News line, India today and Herald.
Conference/Discussion Room: The Resource Center has a well-equipped Conference/Discussion Room that includes: Multimedia Projector, Projector Screen, Flat Screen TV, VCR, TV channels on Cable network
Special Courses: MNAs and Senators wishing to participate in special courses (such as “English Communication for Legislators” or “Computing Skills”) are encouraged to bring these ideas to the attention of the Resource Center staff and all efforts will be made to provide such opportunities.
Presentations/Topical Discussions: The Resource Center may host presentations on new innovations regarding parliamentary services (such as the introduction of e-governance to the National Assembly and Senate) or on topical issues.
Printing Facility: A printer is connected to all the computer terminals. Honorable members may print up to 50 pages per sitting free of charge. Pages in excess of 50 are available at Rs. 03/ per page. A color printer is available for printing colored documents (50 copies free).
Photo Copying/Computer print Service: Both Services are free for the first 50 copies/pages. In excess of the first 50 pages/copies photocopy services @ 01 Rupee per page and B/W computer print is available @ 03 Rupee per page. Resource Center Staff are happy to assist.
Scanner Facility: You may scan your documents/material for research purposes from the resource center free of cost. The files of scanned materials can be stored to a data storage diskette/CD/USB provided by the user and can also be e-mailed.
Colour Printing: 25 pages are free of charge. Colour printing in excess of 25 pages and photographs are @ 10 Rupee per page.
Fax Facility: Honorable members may receive or send faxes from the Resource Center. The charges are: Fax Incoming - Free of CostFax Outgoing - Free of CostFax Outgoing – NWD : According to PTCL TariffFax Outgoing - International: According to PTCL Tariff
